Why is it that we are expected to be able to love 2 parents the same, all fo our children equally, but we seem to think that we can only love one person romantically?

I don't understand this either. I think we only think this way because of society. There are other cultures that do not practice this type of thinking and behavior. I do not think monogamy should be the social norm to have to follow.
I think if it was not looked at as the right way, people would be so much happier. I think we try to force ourselves to be monogamous because we feel we have to and it just is not natural and causes so many issues. Way too many to get into right now.

Because that's life we are expected to only love one person as in marriage otherwise it would be polygamy which is illegal in most states and you are commiting adultery. Why would you even wan't to I have been married for 7yrs and trying to understand one
woman is enough for any guy. I also do believe this day and age with AIDS/HIV and so many other STD's why would you want to chance it. The first line to your question most people love one parent more then the other it's just normal and kids too but family and kids are not thought of in a romantic way they are family and children and thats that. We are to love one person as a mate for life because that is just the way it is suppose to be but then of course that is alos why we have divorce when things just don't click.

Shhhh....that's not a question you are supposed to ask. You could be looked at as a rebellious youth. You should conform to the thought process of the moral majority and not question them. C'mon, be a zombie like the rest of humanity. To answer you seriously, you can indeed love multiple people in an intimate way. Love isn't an emotion that targets one person only. It is an emotion divided and ready to be given to those who mean the most to you.

If you found someone who is the other half of your soul, you wouldn't be able to love anyone else romantically. The problem is that people don't wait...they think they have found love, then they find they can do without that person. When it is real, you can't. Even after years apart, you still can't.

There is no written law that says you have to love one person, society has instilled that way of thinking upon us. On the other hand, loving your family is a totally different kind of love.

You really need to ask? You don't love your parents or children romantically.

Because we are civilized and care about others' feelings and well-being as much as our own selfish desires.
