It is neither. It is very, very funny, but I would not go as far as to say it was art.
It certainly IS politically incorrect, but is NOT anti-American......now please everyone, I might open a can of worms with this next statement, but please bear with me....
Americans, you are known world wide, as having poor sense of humour, so Borat merely uses his movie as you are seen as a soft target. If the film was made in England, we would have seen through the jokes sooner, and the movie would have lost its comic effect. I REALLY do not mean any offence by this.
In the Uk we like to think about our jokes, whereas yours seems to always be delivered to us on a silver plate (with canned laughter track!) which we dont like too much over here.

I don't know, but I've got to see it either way. Guess that means that they win!
I think the idea is genius and the outcome is hilarious
the latter of the 2. I got sick of it after the first 4 minutes.
I WOULDNT CALL IT ETHER, I WOULD JUST TAKE IT FOR WHAT IT IS, A FUNNY MOVIE THAT SOMEONE MADE TO MAKE MONEY, JUST LIKE YOU OR I WOULD, ITS NOT ANTI AMERICAN OR ANTI ANYTHING, ITS JUST A MOVIE
It's neither. It is hilariously funny but it's not a work of art. I don't think it can even be called anti-american propaganda because it's all real (okay, apart from the Pamela Anderson in the bookstore bit). But these were real people he met, it's not exactly his fault they behaved how they did.

Its a comedy. I hadn't laughed so much for years untill i saw that film. And it's all real, even though some disagree. I live near Sacha Baron Cohen and I've met him and I know enough about him to know that none of it is staged. I think it is far more a comedy then anti-american anything.

I think you're giving him too much credit either way! He's neither. Nothing more than a silly actor performing on the street.
I saw the movie. Didn't see any anti-American propaganda - just a bunch of inbred red-necks who have been taught for 5 generations that homosexuals and blacks are bad. They're as ridiculous as the character, Borat.

Work of Art...the movie was funny as all hell and hopefully it made people think *w/o spoiling too much..the frat brothers, the rodeo audience and the gun shop owner* Sadly, there are people as anal and narrow minded as them. So yes, I laughed myself sick over most of the action but every now and then a scene would crop up that really made me forget about laughing and made me shake my head over how stupid and bigoted people can sometimes be.

Neither. It is just a funny film.
Stop trying to psycho-analyse it and ENJOY!
Plus it's better than the Ali G film.

I think it's amazing that the Americans didn't realise he was a character! I'd definitely say it was un-PC, but not the worst one ever and certainly not (not intentionally, I don't think) anit-American.
