Maybe try an osteopath - I had similar problems to you & had been attending a chiropractor. After changing to an Osteopath, problem hugely better after first treatment & improved over a few more.. Dont need to continue treatment at the moment.
Good luck - sounds as if you just need a different point of view

If you are in Sydney there is a great healer who utilises chiro, osteo and kinesiology and homoeopathic injections to relieve pain.
Fused vertebrae is a tough one as impingement of nerves between the individual vertebrae is what is probably causing the pain.
As with previous suggestion search for a holistic practitioner and also try an osteopath and possibly a physio. There is such a wide divergence between very competent and hopeless among medical practitioners that it may need some searching

I have exactly the same problem...

I eventually went to a private physiotherapist who suggested sports therapy massages to assist with the over worked neck muscles.
And in times of severe pain acupuncture works well.

As to the worst case scenario... The consultant at the Hospital said that a procedure to fix the vertebrae has many negative sides to it... Restricting movement and also no guarantees in relieving the pain...

The thing about any treatment plan is that YOU have to do what is suggested for X amount of time to see if it is going to help. It hardly matters what type of treatment you seek if you are not willing to do your part...Chiropractors are like any other anything; there are good one and bad ones...if the guy I go to knows he cannot help you with what he knows he sends you on your way with some referrals if necessary; and he has helped me with stuff that regular medicine could not touch after months of treatment(it was a pinched nerve in my neck)

What did your regular doctor suggest that you do? Pick one and stick with it for a while and then if it does not work make a change...Sadly, there are no "magic" pills or options when it comes to pain or anything else I am aware of....

Try the first suggestion if it works stick with it. If not go onto the next suggestion and see if that works. Sometimes you need to search yourself for a way to find a cure. Even though many people act like doctors know everything they don't. Remember half of all doctors graduated at the bottom of their class. =)

chiropractors will scam you and make you keep coming back for adjustments but you are never really cured. I would go to a neurologist instead

try leaving those quacks alone and go to a neurologist. chiropracters get their degrees out of a bubble gum wrapper.
