I found that It is cheaper to use a phonecard and also you know what you are paying beforehand.

I usually buy a phone card called 'South East Asia'. You can buy these on newsagents or online www.thephonecardsite.com. You dial 0207 or 0800/0845 number enter PIN and then your girlfriends' mobile number.

You can buy £20 phonecard for £17 on the phonecardsite and this will give you around 180-200 minutes - lasts longer particularly if you use off peak or on weekends and saves a lot of money rather than using BT.

Hope this helps.

You can try Yahoo Messenger (Instant Messaging) which has a voice feature or try also Skype. VOIP or Voice Over IP is available here in Cagayan de Oro City. It is cheaper and uses internet access. Do not spoil your girlfriend too much by calling her directly through her cellphone. Before you can even visit her here in Cagayan de Oro, she has already drained you! I am a resident of Cagayan de Oro City and I see lots of foreigners with their Kagayanon girlfriends and its not always a happy ending. Becareful....

Check my website for more info about Cagayan de Oro

Try a website called www.niftylist.co.uk/calls it gives you a list of countries you can call including Philippines and when you select it it gives you a choice of numbers to call with assoicated prices which are based on calling from a BT landline (not BT box) it costs 7p a minute. You could get her to go to a cafe and use skype or better still YAHOO ( the number 1 chat partner)

hey, why don't you try skype?
i use it to talk with my aunt and cousins in Norway and the quality's very clear.

If you really want to use your mobile phone then why don't you just ask your gf to get a new sim with a roaming plan from any philippine network and then send it over to you there in the uk?

I went there last year and it was really cheap for my parents to call me. When you get the plan just ask your girl to call you; it would be charged the same rate as a local call (for her) although your phone would also be charged. But hey, it's better to get charged with pesos than pounds right? :))
