Well, as I'm not a musician, I wouldn't answer this question with conviction, despite I'm a huge Erasure's fan. I think actually all of their names I've mentioned on this Poll are very creative, even if you think to push buttoms on a keyboard is something easy for doing it...

Oh, I meant "all of those ones" above (sorry. my English isn't perfect at all) and please, feel completely free for voting on who you consider as the best keyboarder, no matter if you are or not a musician. Just be frank enough to make me hate you (just kidding).

I'd have to go with Duran Duran's Nick Rhodes actually. Their songs had orchestral stuff and symphonies on their early stuff. Plus he had a hand in producing the albums as well.
RE New Order & Gillian Gilbert. She just played the synths. It was Stephen Morris the drummer/programmer who actually set the equipment up for her.

Vince Clarke/Erasure

Chris Lowe from Pet Shop Boys.
I'd also suggest Thomas Dolby, the Mael brothers from Sparks, Kraftwerk, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Scritti Politti as well, and Martyn Ware was much better as part of Heaven 17.

I don't know the names of the people involved, but the keyboards with Go West were excellent. Vince Clarke is very individual and I liked the Duran Duran keyboard parts.

I'd take my choice as Chris Lowe from the Pets.
...As your Q asks who is the best, definately Chris.
I'm old enough to remember all the others.
I'm 41.

Now then, if you're opening it to all keyboard players.
I would definately say Rick Wakeman is the best keyboardist(?)
to have ever graced a concert hall or a recording studio!

Even as a huge Pet Shop Boys fan and keyboard player myself, I'm not sure there's actually much talent involved in pushing a few buttons to play re-recorded sounds...
