There isn't a real one. One of the arguments made by opponents of same sex marriage is that allowing it could open the door for other things, such as acceptance of polygamy. It's baseless and primarily a tactic by the morality police (Conservative Christians) to keep people under their reigns.

There is no connection.
Same sex marriage requires that a person have sex with one and only one person the rest of their lives; polygamy opens the door for a person to have sex with other throughout their lives.
However, just are there are same -sex marriages throughout the US, there are polyamorous marriages throughout the US that government has not found out about yet.
The government cannot stop people from getting married to whomever they want; the talk about 'banning' same sex marriages was designed to appease their radical right wing base.
Try as you might, you cannot legislate love.

Because once you open marriage up to being between any 2 people, then how can you prohit it from being between 3 people? If you throw out the millenia of tradition that calls for marriage to be between 1 man and 1 woman, then it is all thrown out and open to change.

Actually, history supports polygamy a lot more than it supports homo-gamy.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg thinks that both are Constitutional rights. Other than that, not much. Polygamy has many millenia of history. Gay marriage has none.

Redefining what constitutes "marriage",

If you can marry the same gender, which is bending ALL the rules about marriage and family, since they can not procreate,

it makes no sense to say that a man can not have 4 or 5 wives, if he chooses and the women like the arrangement.
Or a woman to have 2 husbands if they are all OK with it.

Why do you discriminate against these people who are all in agreement and want their rights!!!

All the similarities would go away if you made it legal and kept polygamy illegal.

The connection is the theocratic laws that right wing religious nut jobs pushed though to have the government enforce their religious beliefs.
