Isn't it awful? We could be accused of stereotyping and tarring people with the same brush, but it is very difficult not to feel intimidated when faced with these youngsters. They appear to hunt in packs and it's just downright scary!

Hold on a minute. Are you suggesting that any individual that wears a hoodie is automatically a scumbag? Were these individuals in the park acutally commiting any crime(s)? I think it is becoming all too common these days to label people as criminals and nuisance-makers just because they choose to wear a hoodie or a baseball cap or because they sport their hair in a particular way or whatever. OK. How does dress code equal crime? Does this mean that if over Christmas and the New Year there are numerous crimes committed by men in business suits, then from then on all men in suits should be handed an ASBO?

I think that you need to be able to differentiate between the hoodie and the scumbag here. Generations of youth have all adopted a uniform, consider the teddy boys of the 50's, the mods, rockers and hippy's of the 60's and the punks of the 70's to name a few. There will always be trouble makers within the group but the majority are conforming to the standards of their peers and looking for just that little bit of rebellion against the constraints of their elders. Should we tar everybody with the same brush because they wear the same clothes? Would it be more staisfying to enforce a dress code on our children?

Just because they are wearing hoodies does not make them scumbags. They have the right to be at the park same as you have. If you are saying that they were breaking the law by indulging in criminal activities, then it's a different matter.

I didn't see that when I was in London but I haven't been in awhile but I live in the US and my city is running over with them. Hoodies and falling pants. The gang look seems to be popular. Why anyone would want to look like a loser I don't understand

Hi! I haven't got a problem with kids wearing hoodies. If they just want to copy each other like a bunch of sheep that's fine by me. If I walked past a bunch of them and sat down in the middle of them all they would be intimidated by me. I'm 6'1 in my 30's,stocky and very imposing! If they aren't causing any trouble then leave them alone. Most of them are good kids.

Like others have said, they are EVERYWHERE these days, mate - even Norwich and the year is permanently 1955 here!! Let us drift off into a fantasy world for a moment ............ muslims wear burkas (forget the religious crap - what a great way to hide a 'bad hair day') so maybe these teens are just compensating for their poor little acne-ridden faces. I mean - why else would you want your hood up in July? When it isn't even raining? Sadly though, the popularist view is probably correct. They have their fecking hoods up so they can behave unsociably and nobody will be able to identify them. My feeling is - why wear your hood up if you have nothing to hide?
