Without wanting to be po-faced about it, the law says you should hand the money to the relevant authourity (Police or employers) as found property. They must then retain it for a stipulated time to allow the owner to come forward and reclaim it. If no-one makes a claim then you have the right to have the money returned to you. If someone does reclaim it you may be entitled to a reward for your honesty.
If you don't do that then you could be charged with theft by finding.

It depends on how honest you are really, but legally it should be given to your employer to keep in case the person tries to claim it back. No CHANGE there then but you'll be the one to LOOS out.
