2x - 5x^1/2 - 3 = 0
2x-3= 5x^1/2
square both sides:
(2x-3)^2 = 25x
4x^2 - 12x + 9 = 25x
4x^2 -37x +9 =0
x= ( 37 +- sqrt( 37^2 -4(4)(9) ) /2(4)
x= ( 37 +- sqrt( 1225 ) /2(4)
x= ( 37 +- 35 )/2(4)
x= 72/8 or x= 2/8
x= 9 or x = 1/4

Factor this into
(2x^(1/2) +1)(x^(1/2) - 3)=0

2x(1/2)=-1
x(1/2)=-1/2
x=1/4

Also x^(1/2)=3
x=9

Check with 1/4
2/4 + 5/2 - 3= 0 Use (1/4)^1/2= -1/2

Check with 9
18 -5(3) -3 = 0 Use 9^(1/2)=+3

(2√x + 1)(√x - 3) = 0

x = ¼i, 9

So, the only real solution would be 9.
