I went to my brothers concert in detroit, and afterwards we walked to the car. My boyfriend parked in the middle of a neighborhood with broken down houses.

I have never in my life been insulted by a black person. There was about 15 black boys hanging out in the middle of the street in detroit. They started coming up to us like they were going to assult somebody. My cousin and I ran into the backseat. We never said a word to them.

Why would black people assult white people who don't even say anything to them? Crowd up around the car as we drive away saying they are going to slash our tires and rape us??

I didn't know that things like this happend. Is there a difference between black people in Detroit, and black people out of Detroit? I understand if we said something to offend them, but we didn't say a word.

Is it education, money?? Why would they act that way? It's unbelieveable.

It is the same everywhere and the reason black youth do it is because they know people will apologize for them or make excuses for them. There are problems with crime that include all races. However, black crime in particular is a major problem globally -- especially the regular and typical violent crime types. Unfortunately, this problem will not go away because those that can affect change are not permitted to address the problem honestly. Many intelligent and prominent black people acknowledge the problems with black crime in America and I think most other people are fully aware of these facts regardless of what they say in public. If you want to lower your chances of being raped robbed or murdered then being tolerant and colorblind is nothing but foolishness. Sorry you had to learn about this ugly part of life this way.

That was one group of Black people, not everybody do things like that! I Don't like the way you say "Black people"! Don't put all Black People in that categories.
That is a problem right there!
It could also be the same for 2 black girls in a white neighborhood with a white crowd. As a matter of fact...that has all ready happen. Years and Years over again.
And then you are down rating Detroit! That's not fair! People do this everywhere!
YOU SOUND LIKE A RACIST TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!

it's possible that a gang of white, mexican or russian kids might have had the same behavior. you are assuming the behavior happened because the people were black (which from my point of view is a racist conclusion - using only that factor to decide why they behaved that way) think about it hundreds more black people were at home or minding their own business or studying.
they people who assaulted you were thugs. that is why they assaulted you. thugs can come in any color. they possibly picked your group because you seemed vulnerable in an unknown territory. your assumption that this is about race is where you need to start examining.
and yes, a lot of it is about race. it is easy to de-humanize people from a different culture than you (which is what the thugs did to you). i don't want to say that there is no race factor here.
but the group may have assaulted a group of blacks in your situation, too. you never know. i wonder if you'd had a couple of blacks in your group if it would have been different. possibly not. think about all that.

People with low incomes are statistically more likely to commit violent crimes. I don't think it has to do with race. I have seen it a lot in white lower-class neighborhoods too. I think it has to do with lack of education of the parents, and not having good role models in the community. The parents don't know or care enough to teach their children right from wrong and the kids grow up with no integrity.

why would You act that way in making this about race? would your question be "A question about caucasians...? if these kids were white? it's not always about race. but the first time something happens to ppl and the perpetrators were not of the same race, then it's about color. how lame. stop making generalizations.

And you or your boyfriend did absolutely nothing to provoke them? And how do you know they only messed with white people? If they were thugs then you probably weren't their only target.

education has a lot to do with it. when education isn't a priority, then morals and standards are next to go.
