Seems that white pride is instantly labeled as racism. Whereas black pride is even taught in public schools. Why is this?

The whole "Say it loud; I'm Black and I'm proud" thing is because not very long ago, Blacks were made to be ashamed of their color and ancestry. This idea of being proud (rather than ashamed) of being Black is in reaction to that.

The phrase 'white pride' is used by violently racist whites, who think Blacks should either be killed outright, or all "sent back to Africa" against their will.

Myself, I think the idea of being proud of one's race is silly, as it doesn't say anything about me, really.

But for a long time, dominant white culture denied Blacks humanity, claimed all Blacks were worthless, stupid, criminal, etc. Thus the backlash and the emphasis (the shortest month of the year) on Black history and the accomplishments of Blacks in general and Black Americans in particular.

Eventually everyone will get bored with the whole Race thing.

Everyone should be equally proud of who they are and where they come from - that's what equality is all about.

Just because a group of people were oppressed in the past doesn't give them the right to now demand or expect some form or favouritism or preferential treatment - doing so only creates a different set of people being treated as "second class citizens".

In the UK we are seeing a lot of this right now - the flag of England - the Cross of Saint George - is now being treated by some as an insult to Moslems or as some form of racist emblem... but the sad thing about it is that most of the people who regard it as such are white Christians who are desperately trying to be politically correct and in doing so are actually oppressing white Christians.

In another example, someone was told to remove a statuette of a pig from their front window in case it offended passing Moslems! Yet no Moslem had complained - and common sense tells us that anyone complaining is just being over-sensitive and really just needs to get a life.

Unfortunately, in their desperate attempts to somehow redress the balance or demonstrate even-handedness, politicians, pressure groups, the media and others often go too far the other way. If there is a Black History Week then there should be a White History Week; if there is a Black Music Award then there should also be a White Music Award. There would be an outcry if the Olympics had "black only" events, so why all these others?. To have "black only" events smacks of apartheid and makes it sound patronisingly like the only way blacks can get recognition is when they are not competing against whites. Let whoever is the best be recognised irrespective of their colour (or any other characteristic).

Any minority group has every right to expect equality... but no more than equality. Black people have every right to be proud of their race BUT ONLY if they permit white people to be equally proud of theirs.

it's alright to be proud of your ancestry. If you're proud that's good. What is wrong is when you put down other races to make your own superior. white people in general and in the past and alittle nowadays, use the white pride as a symbol of their racism. it had taken a racist connotation. I however think it would be stupid for anyrace to just come out and say black or white pride. how ever it is necessary when one is trying to speak out against racial descrimination.

It's okay to be proud of your race, no matter what your skin tone is. I think people tend to shy away from the phrase "white pride" because it's associated with groups like the KKK. If the schools are teaching only "black pride," they are excluding the heritages of students who are Hispanic, Chinese, Japanese, etc. People are so quick to call each other racists nowadays it's ridiculous. We should all continue to be proud if we want to be, even if we're called racists, because we know we're not.

"White Pride" is a loaded statement. The White Pride movement is something which I, as a white male, find despicable. When one has to denegrate other races/religions/creeds in order to race up ones own then one truly has nothing to be proud of. That said, all groups/races have things to be proud of, be they Black, White, Asian, Native American. What no group should ever do is premise their pride on cutting another groups.

I think it's ridiculous to be proud of your skin colour. You might as well have blonde pride, or brown-eyed pride, or sticking-out-ears pride. It's just a physical characteristic of a person, nothing to be proud of. Like other people said, you should be proud of your achievements and what you do with your life

its OK but throughout history white pride has been associated with KKK slavery etc. so many people get apprehensive then they here the tern white pride because not to long ago people where shouting it then burning and lynching minorities. its good to have pride in your race but it is also difficult because if history. some may think that it was a long time ago but if our parents remember not being able to eat with others if the opposite race or that marrying someone from the opposite race was a crime punishable by law then it was not that long ago.
plus the KKK is still around and hate crimes happen everyday

It's not white pride that is labeled racist, it's white supremacy. Being proud to be white is not the same thing as feelling superior. Pride in who you are is important regarless of race, gender or sexual preference.
