Anyway, I just wanted you to elaborate on abortion rights and the death penalty being independent issues in relation to killing.
My main reason for being against the death penalty is that I don't feel we have the right to take someone's life ( regardless of whether or not we think they deserve to live or not , which is relative).
Now using the same argument, how can I justify being pro-choice?

first off: your stated beliefs are not self-contradictory. choosing one system of belief (astrology) does not require you to adopt all systems of belief (God, Christianity, etc.). And while the debates over abortion rights and the death penalty may seem connected, in that they involve killing, they are, in fact, completely independent of each other (and it seems that most who favor one are against the other, and vise-versa).

that said, who among us is not self-contradictory once in a while? is it necessarily bad? some days i exercize and read, some days i drink and smoke and watch tv. sometimes i'll tell my son not to do something, then i'll turn right around and do it myself (i was thinking of drinking milk straight from the carton, thank you, and, yes, i know that this defines "hypocrisy").

i don't think it's all that bad. it's not nearly as bad as lying to yourself about your hypocrisies and self-contradictions, pretending that they don't exist. like my man Carl Sandburg said, who swindles himself more deeply than one saying, "i am holier than you?"

p.s. you can e-mail me now, Dahlia.

pps sorry! i think i fixed that wagon.

I am a walking contradiction. But I believe that chaos creates order. It's been said:

"One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star." ~ Nietzsche
