With no doubt Ohio State is the best in the BCS right now, but I think the rest of it is messed up. Here is how I see the BCS should look like:

1. Ohio State
2. Florida
3. USC
4. Michigan

Florida has had the hardest schedule out of any of those teams and if any of you actually know how hard the SEC really is, you would have no doubt in Florida’s position. The lost to a high ranked Auburn team at Auburn. Most people have been saying they are barely winning those games... but you have to see who they are actually playing!!!! They played, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, and about to play Arkansas. No doubt Gators should be number 2. (and play in the title if the beat Arkansas)

USC is a great team but lost to an UNRANKED Oregon State, and also they’re schedule was not hard at all!! (compared to Florida's) Their toughest team they finally played was Cal, and Notre Dame was overrated. Also when the beat Arkansas, when they were without McFadden, who is their big playmaker. The computer likes USC too much...

Michigan should not even be in the talks because they had their shot and they did not win... How can they have a rematch when they did not even win their conference????

Gators and Buckeyes in the Title game is what it should be.....

should be this way
1. Ohio State
2. Michigan ( lost to the #1 team on the road )
3. Florida ( lost to a quality team on the road )
4. USC ( lost to a BAD team, enough said )

Michigan is the only team that can give the buckeyes a game, Ohio State wants no part of a rematch on a neutral field

This debate happens every year and whether one likes it or not, it must be remembered that major college football is a multi million dollar a year business with teams lobbying for their place in the national rankings, promoting their Heisman candidates etc... A USC vs Ohio State looks good to promoters for several reasons. Geography- closeness to game site equals game sell out and tourist dollars for the host city, plus these two have their place in college football history to name a few. Florida also has history, but it looks good to promoters for the same geographical reason. A major bowl game in the South will assure turn out and the dollars that go along with it. This of course does not set well with many fans, but without the financial benefits from such arrangements many universities would struggle maintaining their college athletics programs and one also must realise that more sports are involved as universities fund all their programs based on the two money generating sports of football and basketball.

Further more, I would state that a tough SEC conference schedule does not guarantee results against another conferences heavy weight teams. Athleticism plays the deciding factor here as well as the team concepts (style of play) and it can also be stated that on any given day any team may be "up staged" by a lesser opponent. A fumble, interception, injuries, illness to key players, suspensions etc... all can end a dream.

I think Florida should be above USC because the SEC is tougher than any other conference. Also Michingan and USC don't play Conference championship games, thus weakening their schedules even further.

My argument:
Two unranked SEC teams (that florida beat) beat ranked opponents outside of SEC this weak.

South Carolina beat Clemson
Georgia beat Georgia Tech

Talented SEC teams will go unranked due to their conference competition, while less talented teams are ranked elsewhere.

It all comes down to the fact that ABC and ESPN (Kirk Herbstreit) love the Big 10. If they wanna be NC, then why dont they earn it? Step out of conference and play a team from the SEC East, who at one point this season, had 6 of their 7 teams in the Top 25. Michigan getting beat by App. C'mon, and they still deserve a NC shot. I dont think so. They shouldn't be able to redeem that loss for another 100 years. At "The Big House" too? How does Wolv. fans even stay faithful after that. Watch out next season though, I hear that Mich. and OSU both have community colleges on their schedule. Hey, I know, schedule the University of Phoenix. They may be able to throw together a team by then. Weak schedules are just like "buying" a NC with the BCS. Small schools get big money to come play big schools and every once in a while a team like App St takes home the $400,000 AND a win.

SC beat Arkansas who is playing in the SEC championship, they beat Nebraska who is playing in the Big 12 championship,Cal, Notre Dame and Oregon were all ranked teams when the Trojans beat them. If there was no BCS the Trojans would be playing the Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl with the winner being crowned the National Champion anyway.

florida has two teams from the Conference USA and a division 2 team on their schedule. wow, such a tough schedule...

on the other hand, USC has arkansas, nebraska and notre dame on theirs.

a team's conference is their conference. not much florida or USC can do about that. but one thing's for sure...USC doesn't schedule cream puffs to boost their record.

at this time of the season, the gators will have to beat arkansas CONVINCINGLY to earn the #2 spot. as of now, florida has not earned it in the minds of all the football analysts, which include sporswriters and coaches (who know more about college football than you)

you know i agree and i may be the only person outside of florida who does agree. wow i think you got it right. the sec has been the toughest conference all season. plus you are right about USC losing to an unranked opponent. and michigan blowing a chance to win their confernce. peep this, the two times a team has played in the BCS and not won their conference championship they lost in the national championship game. Oklahoma and Nebraska. So history should tell us the most deserving teams are the teams that win their conference and beat a quality teams in the process right. based on that formula it should be osu and whomever wins the sec championship.

Sorry, but USC's schedule is tougher than Florida's, especially with the Gators playing a below-average Florida State and a pitiful I-AA team in Western Carolina.

If you look at Florida, they did not have impressive wins against Vanderbilt, South Carolina, or Florida State. USC has played their best five games of the season against their five toughest opponents and won them in convincing fashion. If USC beats UCLA, they definitely deserve to play in the BCS National Championship game.

I think that Michigan should be number 2. They only lost once (like everyone else) and they barely lost to the best team. USC and Florida can't say that.

Plus I think that Florida will lose to Arkansas this weekend.
