it is defenitly a state of mind and humanity used to make such concepts of perfection through out its history. every human beeing is dreaming a life of happiness ,love ,saftey ,pleasure, health and graciousness in their daily life.it is only a concept and nobody can achieve it practically.heaven itself is human concept and attempt to achive such a hundered percent perfection on human happiness. you can say heaven is a concept after death and shangrila is a concept while you are alive.such beautiful goals reassure human life about the chances of achiving great achivements of human relations on life which can be achived through best and positive thinking and activities only.lofty goals are a must for aiming a better life for humanity. if there is no shangrilas or heaven we have to create them again for humanity

Shangri-La means literally "Personal Paradise".
So the place that you've experienced the most joy or pleasure at could be it or it could be a state of mind as in maybe when you eat your favorite foods that remind you of happy times or could be when you fulfill your goals and have deep satisfaction or at the height of sexual pleasure e.t.c. god I could go on & on, Your "shangri-la" is whatever you want it to be!
