I can't say for sure that it's PETA, but some activists came to this area one time, and set free all the mink at a local mink ranch. The thing they didn't count on, was that mink are VERY mean animals. Nobody found any human corpses, but the mink cleaned out every outside cat in town, and ate them. And some of the smaller dogs were killed too. I figure these activists freed 100 mink to kill 500 other animals.
They probably came from a big city, and never found out about the consequences of their actions, because even though they stop into our town to commit a crime, they don't care enough to get hold of a newspaper and find out what trouble they really caused. It's happened more than once around here, at different mink ranches.
So when the owner of the mink ranch wakes up in the morning, not only are all his mink gone, but so are the cats, his dog is no more than a chewed up carcass, and the trailer park down the road is completely devoid of pets. Quite the job these people are doing of saving animals' lives, don't you think?
