I work at a nursing home and every year the employees pick a resident's door and decorate it for christmas. Last year I made a Christmas tree out of candy canes. What should I do this year?

How about a christmas tree made from jingle bells & tinsle garland?

Or, make a tree from paper, and have the staff sign it with christms wishes in the shapes of ornaments, or string across like garland on the tree.

You could make a snow scene using silver tinsle garland for the snow. Make a hill of it on the bottom, then cut round puff ball sizes from it to make snow flakes on the upper alf of the door. Add blue tinsle garland for the sky. Have a sign that says, "Silent Night" on it.

Turn the door into a giant Advent calendar.....cover the door with red paper and make a triangle shaped tree out of green felt and make 24 numbered ornaments out of wrapping paper or scrapbook paper glued to cardstock and decorate with glitter glue. Apply a round Velcro tab to the back of each and line up under the tree....every day the resident can remove the right number ornament and stick it to the tree. By Christmas day it will be full...added benefit,it helps the resident keep track of the number of days left til Christmas.

Buy a piece of styrofoam, and cut out a Cristmas tree. Buy floral picks at the craft, or discount store, stick them in the styrofoam, and hang it.
A traditional stocking, size large, stuffed with goodies. For a ladies door, make it a victorian shoe. Or do white on white, with a feather boa or fur trim. Or bead it.
An Advent calender.
Buy different colors of felt, and cut out Santa's face, suit, belt, beard, boots, sack and glue together.
Buy some foil, or paper, and put it on the door, cut out snowflakes, and apply.
Make a wreath, make a flower arrangement. maybe you can find a lightweight a battery operated candle to put in it.

If the resident can give you ideas then ask them. That's a great idea.We always had a theme where I worked.Does the resident have crafts that they have made in the past that you can incorporate?Just wrap it like a big package with a bow and all.

Make paper rings with red and green construction paper and hang it around the nursing home. You can also make snow flakes and put them on the windows.
