I absolutely agree! I found that most items were barely marked down, and most that were appeared to be stuff they weren't able to sell earlier in the year... As for the lines, some store stop their sales at a set time and what we found out (after waiting in a line for 90 minutes to pay) was that if you didn't buy what you wanted before the time (for instance 11:00) and were still in line at that time, to bad... they didn't care you didn't get the sale. I have to wonder if the cashiers were slow and if there weren't as many so that the stores wouldn't have to give so many people sales.
I like you in the past have finished my shopping on Black Friday, this year, I'm not even close, and am watching all the ads still. I am beginning to think I will just do ALL of my shopping online after this experience.
Have a GREAT day and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

This was my first Black Friday - I hated the thought of leaving my warm bed at 5am but I got more accomplished by 10am than other years. The stores weren't as crowded. I won't do it again, I have patience to stand in line to cash out, but no patience to look for or hike from a parking spot in Timbuktu. I shop internet now almost exclusively.

I don't think it was "Crappy". I just think there is just too much hype about it. I usually go the day before or the day after. I can find some good deals. But you have to have patience and shop around. Part of the problem is that the stores hire in so much new temp. help in anticipation. They are not trained and things get back logged. It's just part of the system of free enterprise.

I wouldn't care if they gave me everything for free, I could not/would not brave the stores and malls on Black Friday. I do a lot of my shopping on the Internet, where there are no crowds and no checkout lines. I hope you get your shopping done-- Good Luck!!

Must be a woman thing. I got up at 3:30 AM and went with my wife and held the shopping cart while she snatched and grabbed. Sure we saved some money but I will probably never do this again. I had rather pay double than be put thru this again.

It was crazy! Despite the perceived lack of sales, people were buying everywhere! The overload on credit and debit cards caused havoc even in Canadian cashier systems on Friday! Maybe that's why people suggest not to buy anything on Black Friday!

I think the stores focused much more on big ticket electronic items- TV's, MP3's, DVD players, game machines, games, etc. I did get quite a few good deals on toys for my kids, but nothing that was HUGE like some past years.

I missed seeing all the fighting, shooting, stabbing and shoving at WalMart footages.
