You've got to be kidding! Why do you think that blacks have a monopoly on victimhood? The fact of the matter is that EVERYONE has ancestors who have been persecuted at some time or other, so if everyone demanded reparations for the way their ancestors were treated, all governments would be in trouble. By the way, I'm part Cherokee, so do you think that I should also demand reparations from the US government, since it broke every single treaty it ever signed with the Cherokees? For that matter, do you think that I should also demand reparations from the Spanish government, since those damned conquistadores brought their smallpox and nearly wiped out all of my Native American relatives? Also, one of my ancestors was a Quaker who came to the Colonies from England and died from his injuries after being flogged. Do you think that I should sue the British government for letting such a horrible thing happen? And not only that, but one of my ancestors was a Huguenot. Do you think that I should demand reparations from the French government because of the oppression that led my ancestor to leave his homeland? Of course not! Don't be ridiculous! Stop trying to milk your ancestors' suffering and take some responsibility for your life!

Never, and there's no real demand by the black community now for reparations. The 40 acres and a mule would have been great during the Reconstruction, but those days are long past. As you know, bringing up issues like this now is fodder for the anti affirmative action crowd.

None. Why should you be paid if you were never a slave? Why should I pay anything if my ancestors never owned slaves? And who should pay, if anyone? If what I remember from the history of African slavery is correct, the slaves were first captured by either rival African tribes or by Arabs, and sold to traders, often Portuguese or British, and shipped on Spanish, Portuguese, British or American ships to the American colonies. So shouldn't Africans pay compensation for slavery, too? And shouldn't the whites whose ancestors fought for the North in the Civil War be exempted from any indemnity, since they paid with their own blood for your ancestors' freedom?

They are not going to be paid. Should we pay the ancestor of the Chinese and Irish for the railroads, the Germans and the Polish for working in the mines. Every race in this country has been discriminated against at one time or another in our country. I myself think we should stop paying the Native American Indians.

I feel bad for that whole slavery thing... but... your reparation is that you live in the US and not in Africa today

Wouldn't it be better for some black leaders to rise up and teach African Americans how to get a piece of this rock?

The victim mentality is destroying blacks.

When proof is offered that you yourself were a slave, and when our country finds those that have held you as a slave. But since you were not a slave, and those who did hold slaves are dead, I wouldn't count on it. No one alive today has wronged you at all
