Which poll is the primary one, AP or Coaches?

Question

When there is a discrepency between the 2 polls, which one seems to take priority among the media and in general.

If it matters, I'm looking specifically at basketball here.

AP is the official poll. They are the ones who ultimately decide MVP, etc.
