Naw, I would be more prone to believing that it was a vicious threat on its own. It was effective enough on its own. It's musculature leads me to think that it was very rapid on its feet and able to jump quite a distance. Those legs look spring loaded. The teeth are highly efficient in severing the jugular in one bite, so I don't think that it would have to resort to pack tactics.

At this point, there seems to be a lot of conjecture about T Rex. There are some scientists who think that T Rex was actually a scavenger.
