I assume that you are a teenager, but you could also be an adult.
If you are a teenager: Your parents usually get your first family for you, your mother or father should have friends and it will naturally occur. You can also print little cute fliers (or draw them) and hand them out at PTA meetings, etc. There are also babysitting classes you can go to.
If you are an adult: You need to take the classes, and preferabley get a job at a daycare. You might need to volunteer if you dont have refrences. Daycares may not feel "alright" taking you as a walk-in volunteer so go to a church, they usually have things. It's better to work for a daycare, than babysit in your home.

You have a likely source of customers. Simply say you wish to do babysitting jobs and ask if they need someone or know someone who does. You will soon have babysitting jobs. Your status as a young leader will serve you well.

I babysit and basically I just got into it when friends of the family asked me to do so. You could try asking round people who know you who have children. You could put up an ad in your corner shop but you might get wierdos and it's better to stick with someone you know. Once you get started, if you do a good job your reputation will get you more jobs. And don't think that it's an easy job cuz believe me it's really hard getting hyper kids to sleep - definitely not a "put them to bed and raid the fridge" kinda thing! Ask round, or see if your parents know anyone, they could recommend you to people. Good luck!

You mention it in passing to a few parents that you'd be available to babysit should they ever be stuck and then do a basic first aid course cause I found that really helped with any trust issues. Then show yourself to be responsible at all times fun and competant and you should fly.

Tell your parents to pass the word around to their family and friends, it's best to babysit for people you know I reckon, then everyone is nice and relaxed about the whole thing !

I would suggest that you approach people with children and offer your services. Be realistic about the charges you make because young couples often are struggling to even afford a night out without the cost of an expensive babysitter - good luck in your quest.

Easiest way is for family friends with young children so friends might ask your parents if you are prepared to babysit for them.

Try putting an ad in a local shop window. But to be honest most are got through word of mouth because that way people know they are getting someone reliable and trustworthy xxx
