is it just me or are they just not funny anymore?
i have been seeing all their new episode and they are just so hard to watch, i think they lost their humor and its about time for them to be cancelled,anyone agree?

I think it is still funny. I am a big fan of the show and there are always times when they have episodes that aren't that great.
I have a theory as to why the show has been seen as "going down hill". I think it's because of the movie. I did some research and found that they've been working and reworking the script since around 2001. Most of the time I hear people say that the show got bad around the 10th or 11th season. This would be around 2001, when all of the best writers from the early days started on the movie. New writers weren't as good as the others and people thought the show was getting dumb. I DISAGREE with you when you say its not funny. I love it, I'm obsessed with it, and its just as good as it's ever been.
On the DVD commentaries some of the crew members(including Matt Groening) tell their theories as to this opinion as well. This is a paraphrase of that: In five years from now, they'll be saying that the 23rd season was nothing like it was during the 18th. It just can't have the same shock value it once had.

It's tough for the writers to keep the material fresh after so many years, especially with a family that never ages. The audience knows what to expect. Family Guy will be easier to keep "hip" because most of the humor is a satire on pop culture - there are always celebs with their antics to make fun of and new current events all the time. That's why SNL has been funny for so long.

I know what you mean!! I've been a Simpsons fan for as long as I can remember but now... they've run out of ideas!!! Well... what goes up must come down as they say I guess... that's why they're ending it soon T~T
Well... at least the best episodes will stay forever ^_^

I don't agree. I think they've always gone through some dry patches, and they always pull out of it. I thought last night's episode (about the ice cream truck) was extremely funny.

Your just growing up and your tastes are changing. My kids love the show. I think it's pretty funny too. Keep your sense of humor or you'll grow old and die

i think some of the new episodes are funny. i thought the one yesterday was good, but the halloween one definitely was one of the worst ones i've seen. actually, it's kind of starting to remind me of family guy, where they just show random scenes just to fill up time.

I some what agree with that. Its not real edgy anymore. I am a Family Guy fan.

I never though much about the Simpsons, even when the shopw as new. It contains nothing but absurdities, pofanity, and violence. Definitely NOT recommended for kids.
