""it's just not an imprisonable or capital offense."" WHAT OFFENCE? WHO GETS OFFENDED?
BUT IF THE PERSON SURVIVES AFTER AN ATTEMPT,
Nobody cared about that person's life, and when HE tried to take it, SOMEONE else tries to prevent it. and put him in jail. When he gets out, he is sent to an asylum or set free. after all that he is again free to take his pathetic life.
If woman can abort kids in THEIR body. Why can't others end the life in THEIR OWN body?

You can not be sent to jail after a suicide attempt. That is what is meant by it is not an imprison-able or capital offense. It is not an offense at all. People who have attempted suicide are often taken to a hospital. When they are stable, depending on their state of being are either released or taken to a treatment facility. Attempted suicide is a person's desperate cry for help. It does not mean they have a pathetic life, it means they have severe depression and need professional help to overcome the despair and sadness in their life. People who love people who have committed suicide or attempted suicide will disagree with you that no one cares for a person who attempts suicide. I have a nephew who has attempted suicide twice. He is under a doctor's care, but struggles with many issues including depression. Trust us, none of us wants him to take his own life.

Hi Suicide is tha last thing a person does when all coping mechanisms ahve failed, whether its family friends partners church or or spiritual instituions. Its an old myth that has gone on for far too long.
If a person wishes to tke their own life they should have the freedom to do so.
Its not any system that have failed, some of the answers given are shallow and 1 dimensional. If a person is resoute they will haved a succesful suicide.
Whenever/however a person dies they should be remebered for the person they were and how they touched others lives.
If you beleive in a "GOD" of any description it is up to that GOD to decide. Too many people play god on this earth.

Just because that person doesn't believe no one cares about them doesn't mean it's true. Most times, it's just a cry for help anyways. Especially if the person doesn't follow through with it or fails at killing themself. Besides, it's a cowards way of dealing with their problems.
Abortion is a completely different subject. What if the woman get's raped and get pregnant with the rapists baby? What if a couple is having protected sex and the condum breaks? What if the baby would have a terrible life if it was brought into this world (i.e. poverty, disease, famine)? There are many different and legitamite reasons why abortion isn't as frowned upon as suicide which makes it legal.

I live near a large city where from time to time people try to kill themselves in a public place. They try to jump off an interstate bridge which means we have to stop traffic, which is a big mess. If they survive they get sent to jail. If I'm not mistaken, one man was charged with attempted murder because if his plan had succeeded he might have taken someone with him in the process. They also charged him with resisting arrest, impeding the flow of traffic, etc. They couldn't have tried to arrest him if suicide was legal. After they threw the book at this guy we stopped having public attempts for a long time.

I do not think that suicide should be legal. When a person survives an attempt, they go to an asylum because they tried to kill themselves! They need help to survive. I know 3 people that wanted to kill themselves, but have realized that they have a lot live for.
Good Luck

mostly I agree, I thinks its just more of a preventative measure because along the lines of what you said if someone does it what are you gonna do to them, also anyone who actually does it usually doesnt tell ahead of time and the people who do tell ahead of time tell because they dont really want to do it so when they attempt suicide because its against the law they actually then get help not jail hospitals also because anyone acting that way can essentially be a harm to others and all in all everyone is being protected originally it does sound stupid but try to look at it that way and if your not considering it really who cares, oh also anyone who really wants it is successful wouldnt you think why would you play around and possibly be paralized so there life is 10 times more crapy so failing at it is intentional usually KIMBUR

I think that suicide should be legal in prisons....I think too much time and effort is spent on inmates that are suicidal. If that's what they want to do then let them. Out in society it doesn't really matter whether it's illegal or legal...if someone really wants to commit suicide, they're going to do it no matter what. And if they succeed, then the legalities go out the window anyway. As far as pregnancy terminations...that is seen on a more scientific/medical level.....being that it's not actual people (yet) out walking around, etc.

It's an offense to those who surround the suicide. It's not pleasant to have to clean up the body. The very least that could be done is to require a heavy fee which will cover the cleanup and disposal of the corpse.

no way! suicide should by no means be legalised - it would just give people more of an excuse to take away the precious lives that God gave them.
I think suicide should be prisonable - i didn't know it wasn't, But technically it is an attempt against a person's life (even IF that person is themselves). Taking away your life does not solve anything, it just eliminates any chance of a person recieving eternal life in Heaven.

That is a good questions, I guess this could be associated with euthanasia also. I feel it is COMPLETELY impossible to have a solid opinion on legalising euthanasia or suicide, because even me, I can argue both sides to myself.
