As people witness acts that they are averse to, they seek alternative leadershi that speaks to their needs. With the US being the major political and economic power in the world and affecting every part of the globe, I think that the actions of our leaders do affect who people look to for better leadership.

You think the power of emotion from Chavez, Morales and Correa, leaders of impoverished countries will elevate those villains in the international rally against Bush?

Even China has a long way to go before it is in a position to really have pull.

The crooked UN gives those primates more power than they are worth.

Chávez
In this day and age when we are trying to promote democracy around the world and (imposing it), we should be celebrating this leaders victory ( a landslide victory in 1998) and his philosophy. He is doing what no other country in the world has done by sharing his countries wealth with the common people. Perhaps this is a thorn in the side of the Bush oil machine.
-------------------
In 2005, President Chávez initiated a program to provide cheaper heating fuel for poor people in several areas of the United States (New York Daily News, September 21, 2006). The program was expanded in September 2006 to include four of New York City's five boroughs, earmarking 25 million gallons of fuel for low-income New York residents this year at 40% off the wholesale market price. That quantity provides sufficient fuel to heat 70,000 apartments, covering 200,000 New Yorkers, for the entire winter (New York Daily News, September 21, 2006). It has also been reported that Chavez is sending heating oil to poor, remote villages in Alaska. Some have questioned the motives of this generosity. Legislative leaders in Maine have asked that state's governor to refuse the subsidised oil, and New York Daily News criticized his offer by calling him an "oil pimp."
Chávez's domestic policy relies heavily on the "Bolivarian Missions," a series of political campaigns aimed at radically altering the economic and cultural landscape of Venezuela.

The "Bolivarian Missions" have entailed the launching of government anti-poverty initiatives, the construction of thousands of free medical clinics for the poor, the institution of educational campaigns that have reportedly made more than one million adult Venezuelans literate, and the enactment of food and housing subsidies. There have been marked improvements in the infant mortality rate between 1998 and 2006. The government earmarked 44.6% of the 2007 budget for social investment, with 1999-2007 averaging 12.8% of GDP.

Have a little respect for our great leader. Do you have any idea how hard it is to impose democracy on a people who do not want it? Going against popular opinion is a very demanding endeavor and unless you are the one in charge you can't possibly understand the good works he is doing for the world out of the goodness of his heart, even though the world doesn't want his help. This is not an easy task. In the words of another truly great leader, Rumsfeld, back-off.

No it hasn't. The only thing that Chavez did was tell the truth about the President. I haven't heard anything about Morales and Correa though.

Bush's policies are sending a clear message to the world - if you have a notion to fly airplanes into buildings, it's best to do it in Spain Or France - and stay the hell out of America.

If defending ones country and trying to spread democracy is bringing on the hatred - well, bring it on!
