well in Europe I would say a lot because the roads are longer and more spread out, in the UK not as much because you guys don't need cruise control cause you can walk from one side to another of your country in a day, also Mercedes-Benz are nearly all equipped with cruise control, thats a European company :)

Not many, we don't have enough long straight roads and too much traffic to really use it. It also doesn't work too well with manual gearboxes.
I have a citroen C2 vtr and that has it (only really used when messing about because I don't do many motorway miles)
EDIT: WTF is ilovemarmite on about 70% my ars e!!!
At a guess I'd say less than 1% on the road, prob under 10% of new cars sold.

Not many. Most are manual transmission, and we're not bone idle enough to have cruise. It also doesn't suit European traffic conditions.
