hi melissa! i'm from the Philippines! its a beautiful country here, despite all the problems it is facing. i would love to know more about south africa, you could put them in you details. here in the Philippines, we have a lot of stuff to be proud of like tourist attractions such as Palawan, Boracay, Bohol, cebu, Baguio, Davao...and much much more...you can type and search it on yahoo images, as i can't copy paste imagrs here as much as i would like to.
the national language here, Tagalog, is interesting, too because it is a mixture of Indian Chinese, Malay, Spanish etc...
"kamusta ka na?"=how are you
"mabuti naman"=i'm fine
"Magandang umaga". (informal) =Good morning
"Salamat po". (formal/polite) =Thank you
"Kumain ka na ba? (informal)"=Have you eaten yet?
"bansa"=country
"kutsara"=spoon
"tinidor"=fork
"Taga saan po sila?" (formal/polite) =Where are you from?
schools here... can be hectic depending where you study
but like in my case its the whole day. it can be fun and fustrating at the same time. =)
well anyways, have you heard about the jeepney? not JEEP but JEEPNEY... its a really unique form of transportation here...i dont think its found anywhere abroad
trivia:
"The exotic jeepney is a post-war creation inspired by the GI jeeps that the American soldiers brought to the country in the 1940s. Enterprising Filipinos salvaged the surplus engines and came out unique vehicles of art. "
another unique form of transportation would be the kalesa...its horse driven...and you would it in this "carriage"like seat some trivia about it...
"The kalesa or karitela is a horse-driven carriage that was introduced during the 18th century. It was used by Spanish officials and the nobles as a means of transportation. The Ilustrados, the rich Filipinos who had their own businesses, used the kalesa not only for traveling but as a means a means of transporting their goods as well. "
oh yeah... the food here... is GREAT! some may say, not much of decorations, but i mean... the taste...is good=)
