I've been through labor, and mine was quite painful, in the beginning, but, only because my labor was induced and I went from not dilated to 8 cm in a half an hour.
I would imagine that an abortion can hurt both physically and emotionally. It is the emotional pain that hurts the most. I'm speaking from experience only in that I have a friend who had an abortion 17 years ago. She still thinks about that child and what he could have been if she'd allowed him to be born.
The pain she had was intense, physically, but the emotional pain is worse. She had a live baby seven years ago, and giving birth to her daughter was easy, she said. All of the pain that she experienced during childbirth went away.
It's weird and I think most mothers would agree, that we forget the pain of childbirth, because the child we birth is so filled with love and happiness that it erases our memories of the pain.
Good luck and congratulations! This is a very exciting (and scary) time for you, but, in the end, you will have the biggest achievement of your life.
Bless your heart and child!

GO FOR THE EPIDURAL!! My first - they gave me nothing! It was fast but painful (1 1/2 hours TOTAL). Take whatever they will give you. The epidural is uncomfortable to get in your back but it is SO MUCH less painful then having a kid without it. My first 3 I didn't have the epidural but my fourth and last I did. Without the epidural it is massive pain but only last until the head comes out - they can give you other med through an IV for just the labor pains. After the head comes out I think you go numb naturally. Best thing to do is walk, walk , walk. If you walk as much as you can each day until your due date your labor will go faster and easier. My advise - take whatever they will give you when you go to the hospital!
I don't know what the physical pain would be from an abortion - the most painful part of that I would imagine would be the MENTAL pain you would go through afterward.
ps Congrats on the baby and Good Luck!

I don't know if she meant physically hurt but think about going through a similar pain to giving birth, with a twilight drug instead of anesthesia and then coming out without a baby. If anything hurts it's the emotional pain of having an abortion. Plus you're likely to have the after effects but still no baby. My best friend had an abortion and she puked, and her feet swelled and everything lik she was still pregnant for 2 weeks after it. It was like a slap in the face almost it was hard enough to go through it with the baby in there and she still had to do it without one and knowing that she was the reason it was gone. Trust me it's going to hurt a lot, because it's your first time but who cares about the pain it's temporary and it's topped off with a huge reward.

It could have. They induce labor when they give an abortion. If she was very far along, I'm sure it hurt very badly. I don't want to get into the ways they perform the procedures. But it does depend on how far a long the woman is as to what type of procedure that they perform.
Ouch!

with an abortion they numb your cervix so you don't feel any pain. Truthfully, I had a D&C because I miscarried at 11 weeks and they wanted to make sure everything had come out. They did not give me any pain medicine because it was an emergency, and honey, it HURT! But labor and birth hurt more.

yes abortions hurt more than labor because after you have your baby you feel a relief you feel like you work realy hard and you are having this tremendous pain but when you see your babys face you see that is worth it, abortions hurt not only physicaly, but emotionaly as well,

Not to scare you, but nothing hurts more than childbirth. The good news is that it only hurts for just a while, then it's allll worth it.

Absolutely not. An abortion is a D&C procedure and there is no pain, only some significant discomfort for a very brief period of time. It cannot compare to child birth.
