Well, yes & no. I have a number of meaningful subjects I could discuss (life, nature, art, music, religion, the mind, love, family, relationships, career, etc etc). I think of "chat" as more casual & superficial. (Meaningless chatter about the weather, shopping, gossip etc)...The irony is that in this forum we can't really "chat" anyway...you can only either ask questions or answer them, not have a conversation back & forth. I guess the key is to ask the important questions & hope to get some meaningful answers...

Cheers.

Can chatting ever be really meaningful? Anything meaningful ought to have the power to change our lives for the better. Chatting looks unlikely candidate, my dear!

Everyone has something meaningful to talk about, moreso probably more than others. I think I am interesting and meaningful, generally, but then again that's my natural egocentrism talking.
As for everyone talking saying how chatting is "casual" or "non-important" you are looking too much into the question. So she chose the word chat, that doesn't mean she doesn't want to "talk".

Sure... there are lots of people out here, Everything is meaningful and everything is non-sense. To some, chatting about the weather is deep and significant- while to others deep philosophical discussion has no meaning whatsoever. "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder."

A great Q actually,,, and so rare to find here, on occasion. I sugest however that you might better spend the 5 points actually presenting a topic, and see what happens. I have to believe you have thoughts, and meaningful issues you'd like to discuss.
