I have dell desktop, and my processor is Pentium D dual core. I'm concerning to upgrade it to Core2 but I'm not sure that my motherboard will accept it or not.

I have studio and I'm working on mutlimedias, So I need something faster than this.

I don't know how to check the socket model, that cuases I asked.

the bus of my ram is 400-530 mhz. and my graphic card is Intel onboard.

I want to know for sure I'm able to upgrade or not, and it's helpful for my task or not.

Although the CPU socket might be the same, Pentium D FSB is 800 MHz and Core 2 Duo is 1066 MHz. That would at least lead to the latter running at 75% of rated MHz. The two types of CPU have different core voltage ranges. Later boards (maybe not from Dell) can run at both FSB speeds and the different voltage ranges.

Check to make sure that you have an LGA775 socket. You will experience an increase in bus speed if your motherboard can handle it.

You will also probably have to upgrade your memory to a faster bus speed.

I don't see the specs you would need for the upgrade on the sheet you shortcutted.

what is the size and bus of ur RAM ?? and what type of graphic card do u have ??
these 2 items have great impaction on the speed on handling video and multimedia files . so u may try to upgrade them first and u`ll notice the deference at once
