I know people in the states who love british, french, spanish accents etc. Pretty much any foreign accent is popular with the ladies so how come when us yanks go overseas no one loves our accent?

Good points about the american accent being so prevalent on tv and in movies. Allow me to apologize for some of our tourist, I like to think we aren’t all obnoxious and loud.

Well, i'm British, i don't mean to offend anyone, but American accents sound a bit stupid to me, especially southern ones, it's just me but they sound slow and a bit dumb....sorry

when i was in primary and secondary school we learn the u.s. accent when learning the language.
the movies, the t.v. all in your accent. and then i heard the british accent and it was love at first sight. i love watching english shows and movies. i love England and the people. they are soo polite and courteous unlike the people from u.s.a they are not always polite and are usually rude.
i had a few bad experiences in different places in florida when visiting.
i went to the carolinas and heard their accent and it was funny, and the people nice and polite, i was in shock.
but i still like the british accent the best.

We hear American accents all the time on TV and in films. There no mystery there and they start to get a little irritating after a while. Plus Americans are so loud.

You haven't been to China. There are plenty of people here who like American accents. They say it's easier to understand than the Brits' or Aussies' accents.

Its nothing new to them. Plus they associate the American accent with the dumb people and stupid celebrities they say on TV.

british accent is lanaguge of queens and princess
french accent is like a song of romantic
american accent is really cool for cool people only

American accents are probably the most obnoxious self satisfying whining noise ever to affect mankinds ears.
American men and woman sound spoilt , stupid ( though i dont belive they are all stupid the accent makes them seem so).
it is about 10 decibles higher than most pre school (kindergarten) classrooms.
give me a beutiful european accent any day over the horrbile moaning whinging high pitched wail of the fat ugly american. (sounds like an opera lol)
