No you cannot. The body has a reflex action which forces you to breathe, and will overcome willpower however much you try.
Just as a matter of interest, and speaking of willpower, have you ever seen the picture of a vietnamese buddhist monk who burned himself alive in protest at the vietnam war? He stayed seated and meditating as he burned. Now that is incredible.

I would say that you Can Not. Kids used to do this thing where they would like suffocate each other, or something, then they would just pass out on the floor, start breathing again, and a few minutes later wake up. It's not smart, but they did it anyways.

More than likely you will pass out and your body would just take over breathing for you. You would wake up with a headache. If you had an underlying medical condition, you may be able to do it. That aside, don't do it, its not worth it, you have so much to live for, etc.

breathing is autonomic. This means its controlled by a bit of your central nervose system that runs itself. Some people can control their breathing (take a look at the Lc besson Film "The big blue"). But it would take an awful lot of practice to get to that stage....

Good luck!

No. Even the strongest will power will not work. You will breathe again automatically as soon as you black out.

The only way to do it is to put your head inside a plastic bag, and then to tape it up around your neck.

this does work. Not that I have tried of course - well, not many times anyway.

Please do not try this at home. Go to the garden, or someone elses home. OK?

Only if when you pass out your face falls into a pillow. But then that's not holding your breath, it's suffocation in a pillow.

No, you can't. If you hold your breath long enough you will pass out, then your body will breathe automatically.

No. Even if you pass out, you will just start breathing again. Otherwise you would already have died when you first went to sleep.
