I was hired for a position. although i did not sign any papers I was given a starting date. when that starting date arrived, I was called that day and told my position was given to another employee. I understand the at-will employee thing however i never signed any documents bringing the at-will employee to effect. Is this employment discrimination?

Employment Discrimination can be based on Race, National Origin, Gender, Pregnancy, Age, Disability, Military Status & Religion. I got that from http://finduslaw.com.

The main statute that deals with discrimination in the Civil Rights Act of 1964 - CRA - Title VII - Equal Employment Opportunities - 42 US Code Chapter 21 which can be found at: http://www.finduslaw.com/civil_rights_act_of_1964_cra_title_vii_equal_employment_opportunities_42_us_code_chapter_21.

Without more information about the reason why they did not hire you, if you did not have an employment contract, and you did not start working, you did not have a job.

I would have asked for them to send me the contract as soon as I was offered the postion verbally. I think it is the law to do that anyway. I reckon it will be difficult to prove anything now...
