the file will not be deleted, renamed, cut, copy, etc... it is a video file that will open in the wmp but will not play. the file will also not move out of the folder it was downloaded to. can anyone help?

try http://www.snapfiles.com/get/moveonboot.html. if this doesnot delte it, then try defragin and checking ur disks, ps u can also try running an online scan at housecall.trendmicro.com. lol

You cannot delete the file probably because it is kept open by some application. While booting the computer in safe mode will probably fix the problem, it's somewhat of an overkill.

It is simpler to install the Unlocker shell extension - then right-click on the file, select Unlocker from the menu that pops up and follow the instructions.

you can delete it by holding the shift key and pressing the delete key OR

You could restart your computer in safe mode, (hit f8 on bootup repeatedly until boot menu loads) and delete it once you get to windows

download a shreder from www.freewarefiles.com.......in the utilities category....or from another site ....most of them are freeware .......when you find one and install it .....you drag the file on the icon and ....it gets shreded without leaving traces ......not like when you delete it from the recycle bin ......(((the recycle bin leaves traces and slows down your pc a little bit )))

Sometimes I get this, I drag and drop in recycly bin and then delete it from there.
