I would like as fast a processor as possible for this price and as much hard drive space too. I would also like Windows XP Home edition on there.

Well this is just searching around for what your after really, just need you too compare them and decide whats really for you.
first link is pc world for laptop pc. Near the top of the page you can narrow you search down, i did this but the saved link dosnt keep the info. I just put in price, memory and HDD size, gave me 3 laptops.
Ok next site is one of my favorite sites for ordering from as there shipping is second to none! and their prices are pretty good too. Again the link take you straight to laptops but you need to narrow the search down, this site did give more to choice from that pc world.
Next is currys, sorry but the only search function on this was price so these laptops are any spec for £500 or under.
There are 100's of places to look really and its just finding the best for you money but those links should give you food for thought.

Go to Curry's there's some there in the £300-£400 range.

I asw one yesterday in Curry's for £499 and it sounded quite good. I can't remember the exact spec but it had 60GB HDD and a DVD recorder.

i cant tell you, but i can tell you that Empire Direct online are good for electronics and are generally a fair bit cheaper than the high street. also if you go to their website and then call them, they can go through the options with you.
