Southwest flies to Chicago but it depends where you're coming from. I would try them first. I also like yahoo travel, they seem to have good prices and its easy to use.

From where? I found that either www.cheaptickets.com or www.orbitz.com offer the cheapest. Try to get so you leave on a Tuesday,Wenesday or Thursday to get the cheapest fare. Also check around 1-3 am, fares drop then too.

The best travel site I know of is Kayak. It searches all of the airline sites at once and when you click on one of the flights, it takes you to that airline's website.
A LOT of travel sites will give you the lowest fare and then tack their own fee on it at the end when you're actually trying to purchase your ticket. Since you're buying your ticket through the airline, you aren't assessed with that fee.
If you're loyal to one airline, you won't need this, but if you're most concerned with price, I think that one is the best.

I actually got a cheap flight once from Priceline.com. I put in a price for a ticket that I thought I would never get, but I did. Give it a shot.

It depends on where you are coming from. I always go to Yahoo Travel to check their prices and then go to the specific airline that was cheapest. Usually you can find it cheaper at their site.

Where are you flying from? That makes a difference.
Chicago is American Airlines' hub, meaning you'll probably get the biggest choice with them.
www.sidestep.com - this is a search engine for all published airfares, you give it where from, where to, and dates and it searches all published fares and directs you to the cheapest one.
