i have not travelled this far before. Could anyone tell me what health precautions I need to take. Are there a lot of mosquitos?
if I need any injections are there any side effects?

if you call your local GP surgery they will probably recommend you fill in a holiday vaccination form and they will check it out & see if you need any vaccinations (and also check what immunisations you have had in the past as you may already be covered) just to be on the safe side. I think you will need something. they will leave required prescription & info for you on Sri lanka. have good hol...

It depends where you are going in Sri Lanka - if you are going to be in Colombo you don't need to take malaria pills. I travelled throughout Sri Lanka and never took malaria pills and I was fine. It is a personal choice really - sometimes the effects of the pills are pretty bad...and i have friends that, when they got malaria (in Indonesia), just bought the pills there and took them for three days and that worked fine. All medication in Sri Lanka is MUCH cheaper then in the US and easy to get a hold of once you are there. In regards to vaccinations, I would get Hepatitis shots. I think there may be one other that i can't recall. And yes there are a lot of mosquitos so bring some DEET spray.. they are more annoying than anything else. Have an awesome trip - Sri Lanka is amazing!

Proud to be a Sri lankan. Ya real, we are so little. yet see the differance. How do indians say we chased the low ratedteams and gained? Huh! any such bullshit. keep in mind they beatn with the help of austrailia for 9 wickets. any such solid crew kno? :P littlelions willmake their route to victory. Indians are already out of the competition. Why jelouse? Are we too small to playa a international cup?

Im going to sri lanka too...yipee. Starting in colombo going on 18 dec this year. How excited am i....! I had to have Typhoid, tetenus. and one other but ive forgotton. Call your doctor and the nurse will tell you. :0)Happy holiday
