I think it is because the characters on Seinfeld were (or were presumed to be) Jewish.

I don't recall his publicist ever saying that he is Jewish, as far as I know he was raised Catholic, as you said. I think that people presume that he's Jewish because he played a character (Kramer) who seemed to be Jewish and because some of his features, such as his prominent nose and dark curly hair, are stereotyped as Jewish traits.

Everyone thinks he is Jewish because of the character he played on 'Seinfeld'. You know, the show about a Jewish comedian and his friends, that still runs.

Because of that woman that was talking about the antisemitic rant he had done one time . His publicist was in the media saying it was part of his act and that he was Jewish. But hey, who's his publicist, if YOU say he's not Jewish , well that's good enough for me...

I never felt he was Jewish, but perhaps things he did with his character in the show lead some to believe that.
How odd. Would it have made things worse with his incident if he was jewish?

As offensive as it may sound, it's most likely just because he looks stereotypically Jewish. I can't think of any other reason.

That's because people like to start trouble, and blame the Jews for everything, just look at what is going on in the Middle East.many people have died because of hatred of someone elses race or religion.
