For the tour of South Africa, I think we need a good balance of experience & talent. Different specialized players must be picked for different situations.
Going by the performance of the batsmen in the first 3 ODI's, it's obvious that the players well equipped with technics are the only ones able to stay on and score a few. I think it's going to be a monumental task for the Indian team to turn around and fight back from the situation that they've gotten themselves in.
Keeping all that in mind, I think following is the best option for the test squad................
1. Wassim Jaffer ( trumps Gambhir on footwork )
2. Virender Sehwag ( can only wish he gets going soon )
3. Rahul Dravid ( the wall !)
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. VVS. Laxman ( We need him in SA)
6. Rohit Sharma ( here the talent and technic blends perfectly &
since all the rest of the lot is failing anyway why not bringing
this genuine talent in right away? )
7. Dhoni
8. Ajit Agarkar
9. Harbhajan Singh / Kumble ( depending on the wicket)
10. Munaf Patel
11. Zaheer Khan ( just because he's in form)
Ofcourse Yuvraaj Singh gets in, in place of Rohit sharma if fit. I left out pathan even though he bolsters the batting lineup but I think with his limited technic, he'll not be too usefull in SA.

It is Out Of Order
Restore order in the team by shuffling the sequence. Aussies did that during 1999 World Cup in England

Order is not very important.
Important is the
CAPABILITY
RESPONSILITY
ACCONTABILITY.
All these will come ONLY-IF
Selection and benefit / payment of
BCCI
SELECTOR
COACH
CAPTAIN
PLAYERS
are linked to performance in the respective capacity.
FOR EXAMPLE Shri RAHUL
1) is a great TEST PLAYER, can play for TEST but not ODI. What he scored in last ODI, he tried to be retain in the team. In ODI total score by INDIVIDUAL along with rate of score is very very important. He can never play fast. Therefore he shall not be choosen for ODI.
2) South Africa was 6 out with 75 runs. Still he could not control upto scoring 277. He is the worst CAPTAIN.
He shall not be choosen for CAPTAINCY.
Then who is CAPTAIN?
Choose some better capable. If connot be select the best player of one ODI as CAPTAIN in the next Match.

Sachin and Shewag should open, Dravid should come at No. 3, Dhoni should come at No. 4, Kaif, Mongia/Raina, Pathan, Agarkar, Kumble, Harbhajan should follow. In the absence of Dravid, Laxman should bat at No. 3

the batting order of indian team.First throw the coach out of the country. The slogan says Hoo Haa india, I like India. Now it must be 'Khoob har india, Har gaya india'.There should be change in batting order. 1or 2 batsmen should be kept at 7th-8th position. The team should go like this:-
1) Virendar Sehwag
2) Sachin Tendulkar
3)Rahul Dravid
4)Irfan pathan
5)Harbhajan Singh
6)Gautam Gambhir
7)MS Dhoni
8) Anil Kumble
9)Mohmmad Kaif
10)Jaheer Khan
11) Ajit Agarkar
Some batsmen should be at last so there must be some control

I think they need a couple of changes. Dhoni should be moved up and Pathan down to 7th spot. They should use both Kumble and Harbhajan. Rahul and Yuvraj are injured so laxman and Ganguli should be called upon to take their place.
