A customer is someone who requires a service from a provider. Whether paid for or not. A customer could be a student, requiring education. Or a victim, requiring police attention. Then there is the most obvious form of customer, retail, wanting to purchase something.

A customer is the person who funds the business that pays your wages.
No customer - no job.
""Do not mistake customer and client, the terms are not interchangeable, a customer buys goods, a client obtains services (not always paid for by the client).
