Both! Start the car and then go outside and scrape it. Be sure and set the recirculate air button inside the car.... it warms the inside faster! (And starts the ice melting on the outside faster too..) If you can find someone to scrape the windows for you while you sit inside waiting that's even better.

I will scrape it than warm the car. After scrapping it, it will save some energy for the car.

Both. I'll start the car, and get the windows to start defrosting, then I scrape it. Makes it a lot easier, as the ice doesn't hold to the windows as much.

Depends on how together I am that day. If I can think ahead I will start it, but sometimes I am running late and I have to scrape/use a LOT of de-icing washer fluid.
