When did the band "Pink Floyd" first get together? I think it was in the 50's?

The band started in 1964, but they called themselves alternately The Tea Set and The Pink Floyd Sound.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't as early as the 50's, but I know they were big in the 70's and 80's. I think they got together in the 70's.

It wouldn't have been in the 50s; they would have been preteens. According to Wikipedia, though, it was in 1964 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd
