You Westerners who think Egypt's heaven should thank goodness you don't live here! I've been here 13 years and wow!Beggars crowd every square inch, drivers would rather run you over than let you cross, there are pollution and trash and wild traffic jams everywhere, education's MISERABLE, God knows how much money goes to bribery and corruption, good-looking girls are hassled like whores (veiled and unveiled women getting their clothes torn up by sixty or seventy men made headlines last week), half the people are illiterate peasants who live in shocking poverty (per capita income is $700 a year), I can't leave Islam although we have 'freedom of religion' (ha!), the media spits out anti-Semitic propaganda, the boys I go to school with are filthy rich and shameless...I feel like crying when I get home each night, I'd rather end it all than go on living like this much longer. What on earth do you like about this place?
Tahhyaa Musr, he he.

Even my family is a cluster of Jew-baiting tenth century Arabs. Even university degrees and years studying and working in Europe can't change that.

"Why won´t you leave Islam? I´ll tell you why. Because you´ve been brainwashed since you were a child to follow this faith blindly like most Muslims."
Hey BRAIN, I didn't say I WON'T leave Islam, I said I CAN'T leave Islam. If you did your OWN research you'd know it could get me imprisoned, tortured, or both. Now think with me here. Why does it visibly vex me that I can't leave Islam? Because I've been WANTING TO for three years. If you're going to be arrogant, at least be right.

u seem to hate egypt so much, so why dont u leave it and go back to wherever u came from?
i'm egyptian and i know it can be a bit hard for non-egyptians to get used to living here, but i cant exactly understand what do u want by this question? do u want people to know that egypt is a bad place? cause if so, u'd better leave it before u lose ur mind, ur not happy here, asking this question here wont solve ur problem will it?
i dont think egyptians are holding u from ur pants begging u to stay here, cause u wil add a lot to eygpt for God's sake.
and 13 years here?!!! why dont u go to a better place?
if u wanna make a statement here to make people sympathize with u and get to know how a terrible place egypt is, at least be objective and have the decency to give them the true image, u said half the people are illiterate peasants, are u sure about that? cause this is completely wrong, dont misguide ur people who read ur question.
no offence, i'm talking serious, go back to ur country if u dont like it here, u seem very very upset and not comfortable at all.

This sounds like you have a problem or issues with anyone having loads of money, something you might not have and be envious of. Not knowing who you are criticizing but I would imagine people like Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, the Walton family, Oprah Winfrey and so many other entreprenuers, business people, celebrities and athletes. That said, I do not personally know any of these people so I don't know their beliefs in God or life after death. Hearing many of these people speak on TV or reading about these people in print or online makes me feel they are just people like you and me that have worked extremely hard, have taken many risks, and have been lucky in a lot of cases to succeed to great lengths to achieve what they have.
I'm sure there are some, especially the younger rich whether through inheritance or family or fame such as a celebrity, that might get caught up in thinking they are the center of the universe but that does not mean that what they have is heaven on earth. I think you have heaven and having money as the same thing. That must be your belief and I don't think many would share that thought.
Money is not the answer to happiness. I can't imagine the wealthiest people on earth ever linking those two thoughts together! They are lucky to have what they have earned but it is not heaven. The filthy rich, as you call them, still have pain, sorrow, and loss.

The Beaches, Weather, Pyramids and archealogical stuff are what interest people ,not the sad people who live there.
Its amazing how in the majority of Muslim countries you hear about this respectlessness to women, barbaric behaviour, bribery etc.
Why won´t you leave Islam, I´ll tell you why. Because you´ve been brainwashed since you were a child to follow this faith blindly like most muslims.
If you do the research you´ll find that Abraham was NEVER in arabia or anywhere near mecca so he couldn´t have built the Kabah, in fact its all to do with the Moon god which the ancient arabs used to worship.
Open your eyes and see why things are the way they are, you have a consciounce thats obvious because you feel for the poor people, are disturbed by the corruption and don´t agree with untruthfullness. Your lucky most people don´t care.

History is what attracts us to Egypt. Unfortunately with its beauty and rich history comes the devastation of people suffering, having little or nothing at all and on the other hand all the very rich. That doesn't only happen in Egypt, alot of countries have beauty and riches but not to the everyday person. I wish you could leave without repercussion...I wish you good luck and hope that you can find some comfort within you, to give you the strength needed to survive such intolerable difficulties.

sounds like a place with a lot of potential, if you only found a way to remove some 70000000 Egyptians from there
