AKIRA, princess mononoke, GHOST IN A SHELL, NINJA SCROLL, Final fantasy. Looking for some good MOVIES with a good story and or awsome fighting scenes.
*NOT LOOKING FOR A SERIES* I have seen plenty of them like (Beserk, Dbz, Bleach, ghost in a shell: stand alone complex, Cowboy bebop, tri gun, gundam, full metal alchemist) for a few examples. Kind of looking for something under the radar so to speak that I could throw on and me and a few friends could enjoy.
Or something interesting I can watch alone.

I know you said "no series" but "FullMetal Alchemist: the Conqueror of Shamballa" is actually created so that it can be watched -- and understood -- by people who are fans AND people who have never seen FMA. It's a really good movie.
I would also suggest "Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust"

Here's some anime movies I would always recommend:
the Neon Genesis Evangelion movies. If you're familiar with the series, then watch the second one, End of Evangelion. If you're not, then I suggest you watch Death and Rebirth (they both have awesome awesome mecha-giant creature fighting scenes!!! >_<)
Steamboy has some good action in it, as well as visually stunning special effects. It's an awesome movie!!! >_<
Have you seen Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children? If not, then that's the FF movie to see!!! >_<
Vampire Hunter D is packed with bloody macabre action!!!!! I love it!!!!!!! >_<
There are also the Tenchi Muyo movies, three of them to be precise. The first one is good, but the other two are a bit lesser action-wise. The first one is awesome!!!!! >_< if you're familiar with the series, that is. BUT EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT, it's still good!!! >_<
Spriggan has a lot of cool battle scenes and action, too!!!! >_<

I LOVE Princess Mononoke, and if you hadn't already said that I'd put "WATCH PRINCESS MONONOKE" all over this answer. But other than that, try Grave of Fireflies (It's a tear-jerker, it made me cry. don't watch unless you either have a heart of stone or you wanna see an AWESOME movie and cry). Also, try the AIR movie. AIR is an anime series, but try the movie. I'm gonna watch it ASAP!!! and also, try all the Inuyasha movies. I know that's a series too, but try the movies. they're good.
