I work for a financial company (insurance & pensions) now since 15 months. The job is extremely comfortable & fairly easy but the chances for career progression are not great. i wanna get to accounting or maybe banking fairly soon. However, the thing is with this job it's so easy & smooth that I feel lazy to apply for other jobs. My pay is OK, but definitely will not be content with it forever.
I am also getting married next month & am going to bring my wife her from abroad( arranged marriage). When do u think I should make a job change. Sometimes I have this urge to get a new job but sometimes I feel it's so easy & it's really easy earned money. Lot of time at work I surf the net, am away from desk & even gamble online. But I have been told that I am someone with potential & should get a much better job. What u think?

Go for it, it seems u are bored at work, maybe u can find some thing better. Don't quit before u find another job, though. Good Luck!

You should start looking for a new job NOW. Reasons:
1. Although you like the work, you don't seem to enjoy it.
2. You said that sometimes you even surf net and are away from desktop. So it seems that job is not challenging and will not give much hard-core experience (technically) to you. When you will start facing interview, you will realise this. Interviewers may ask tough technical questions or experience realated but you MAY NOT be able to answer. At any time in job, there should not be saturation in learning process.
3. You are getting married and you need a good paying job.
Easy job is okay for some time. But challenges will progress your career. Chose challenging job to this one.

You should always try to better yourself...especially when you only have 15 months invested in this company. You can't be content with just getting by. If you keep the attitude about making easy money, this is how you'll live your whole life! Get a better job, make more money, feel good about yourself, your career, & your life!.....(Arranged marriage? ahhhh...I don't know about that one...)

I think it is better to find a job with good chances for career progression as your expanses will increase by time specially that you are getting married soon . But don't leave your present job unless you find a better one , good luck .

Wait until you are married, and have settled in for a while. Once you are comfortable with your new situation, then start looking for a new job. Both marriage and job change are traumatic experiences. Doing both at once, will cause to musch stress in your life.
