The blood test looks for the hormone HCG. This is what the body produces in response to conception. Most of the blood tests used by doctors offices will measure this hormone in amounts not detected by the tests you buy in the store. You didn't say how soon after the miscarriages that you experienced the signs of pregnancy. Maybe your body hasn't had time to adjust after all that trauma.
Take a bit of time to rest and restore your body. Don't rush things and good luck to you.

I don't think anything is a 100% accurate, but they are still pretty accurate. If you still think you may be pregnant, you could do a hormone test to see if the pregnancy hormone is growing. Some women go three months or more without seeing a positve pregnancy test; so anything is possible. But I also know that most of the time you get a faint line or something. Do the hormone test to put your mind at rest. Good luck!
By the way, I had a friend who had a blood pregnancy test done which came back positive when she was two months pregnant. So anything is possible; talk to your doctor about other options to determine if you are pregnant, including a transvaginal ultrasound.

A blood test to determine pregnancy is testing for the hormone HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin)...this is ONLY present in the blood when there is a pregnancy. In a normal pregnancy, this hormone doubles every couple of days (in the blood), as far as values in testing goes...it's the one responsible for making you feel sick, along with progesterone. When a miscarriage occurs, it can take a little while for the hormone to completely diminish out of the blood...it drops off slowly till there is no more. A blood pregnancy test is the most accurate in detecting pregnancy before ultrasound and audible fetal heart-tones are feasible. It will detect HCG as early as 9 days after conception...but like I said if you had been pregnant and miscarried, it can take a little while for that hormone to drop back to normal non-pregnant levels (2+ weeks). Good luck to you
