Seriously...there is even a spell check option before you post.

They don't seem to think it's important any more. I would love to see the young people who write like that in a few years, filling out job applications, or any other important documents...

It can't be that they are being casual; if they had been taught proper spelling, then it would be second nature to them, and to deliberately mis-spell would be more difficult, not easier.

There are actually days I think they should all be driven back into school with a birch rod and kept there until they can spell. Or, at least know the use of an apostrophe.

Actually, you'd be surprised at the ages of some forum site posters. I've seen literal eight-year-olds on Gaia Online before.

So yeah, some of them really are that young. Though mere laziness also factors in a lot. It seems that most people are far too lazy to bother with such things as capitalization and forming complete sentences.

It's very sad, but lots of people don't consider proper spelling and grammar to be very important anymore. They consider it a waste of time and energy. True, it takes longer to write out a complete sentence with correctly spelled words, proper grammar, punctuation and then run it through the spell-checker before hitting "submit," but I think it's worth it. Besides, if one learns to type very quickly, it doesn't matter how much one shortens it. I can type in proper sentences faster than most people can type in abbreviations. Imagine how fast I could go if I abbreviated everything!

Fast just isn't as important to me as presenting myself in a proper, intelligent manner. It took me a long time to hone my typing skill -- I'm proud of it and I'm going to show it off every chance I get! It's a pity others don't have that sense of pride, isn't it?
