Do you think that "Yahoo! Answers" could lose its meaning and attraction due to the fact that many people give meaningless answers just to earn the points involved in supplying answer?
I didn't use Yahoo! Answers for too many times but from my experience there are few people how have nothing to say but still the DO.

It is not that it "could" but that it HAS become meaningless. I can ALMOST understand the stupid answers just to gain points. What I can't understand at all are the stupid questions... ones that could have been answered with a search engine in half the time it took to type out the question here. I don't know if it is a prime example of the laziness of people, or their sheer stupidity. Don't even get me started on the lack of grammar, spelling, or the inability to express coherent thought...

I'm Penny and here are my thoughts... I agree with you but also Yahoo Answers could become meaningless because some people just get on here and ask rude ignorant questions trying to get under anyones skin. I answer questions hoping I am helping someone who seriously wants answers to their problems.

Good observation - atheism gets a very bad press. Just from using this website, it appears that some of the defensive, knee-jerk reactions of insecure theists, are laced with portraying free thinking athiests as some kind of organised evil conception, growing daily to cast their God or Gods out and take over the world, muh ha ha ha! The meaning of a word will follow its usage by the people. No individual or group can be blamed for that. Communication will prevail.

not really because the person asking the questions get to decide who the would like to give the 10 points to based on the answers given. the 2 points is a consolation prize for taking the time to answer the question.

It's a silly time waster. If you want a real answer, a google search is a million times better. But still it is kind of fun to see what kind of opinions are out there. I'm very surprised how widespread and close minded the politically correct have become.

The whole forum is pretty much pointless, which is why I give stupid answers half the time. There are always going to be people to give proper answers anyway.

I wasn't aware that YA! ever had any real meaning. It's just a fun way to waste time and show off what you know. This place never meant to be more than that.

Yeah,plenty of people answer just for the points.
Even more annoying is people who answer for this reason and then are mean to the asker.

yes this is very possible, but we also must look at the dumb questions asked on a daily basis, there has to be some goose to answer these questions regularly....
