Just because I've made it quite plain on here that I'm an Athiest, people make the remark that I'm a "bimbo". Why?

actually, just the opposite. Because you are an atheist means that you have examined, and challenged, the religious brainwashing that most of us get stuck with. So you are making up your own mind and finding your own opinion. A bimbo, on the other hand, is an impressionable and gullible young woman whose thinking is fixed only on her looks and trivial subjects like fashion and television.
So, no, you aren't a bimbo.

Firstly: Are you really a bimbo because of your beliefs?
I don't think so. Not at all.
If what you report is true then it's a very real shame.
Turn, as you do, to the community for feedback and advice.
Try not to be hurt by what they say, but rather take pride in the fact that you are not so ignorant as to blurt out ad hominem abuse just because you disagree with someones worldview.
Why then do they call you a bimbo?
They want to hurt you, and reduce your self esteem. They are letting you know that you will only be given respect if you believe as they believe. It's a manipulative ploy, to cause you to change your ways, and an ego defence mechanism which makes them feel superiour in the face of a threat to their psychic stability. It's a slur against you and other atheists, designed to give us all a bad name. It's an uncultured and ignorant thing to do, and not a rational response at all.
It seems that when people have their cherished beliefs challenged they don't respond rationally, but emotionally. The psychologist Drew Westen has proved this with brain scans in the lab.
You might therefore expect abuse in the future too, but so long as it is not justified, try not to let it change your heart.

Paris Hilton is a bimbo. Don't think she could even spell Atheist, so I'm pretty definite you're not. Some of the England soccer WAG's could also be considered to be bimbos too.

I don't know. That doesn't make sense really. If a jewish person says I am a jew does that mean they are a bimbo. I am going to have to check in the dictionary for the description of bimbo

Being an athiest doesn't make you a bimbo.
But being so daft that you have to come on yahoo answers to ask if you're a bimbo probably does mean that you are a bimbo.

I dont get the connection. How does athiest = bimbo? Sounds like twisted logic, funny, seems to be a consistant trait with aggressive fundementalist religious folk.

Bimbo means "plain Stupid" I`m sure you are not simply because of your stance towards a spirit being that can neither be proved or disproved.I was brought up in the Catholic faith so I did not question the existence of a supreme mind.
I have great respect for your position ,I do not for "fence sitters",
whom want to take a creed when it suits them.
Those whom swear by " god knows" etc and the like*Oh my God"!

You are what you are. Your beliefs are your beliefs. Just as anyone else has the right to their own opinion you have the right to be athiest.
If they believe in their eyes you're a bimbo you probably wont change their mind similarly if they believe in god and you don't they wont change your mind.
People will be people will be people!
Some people dont actually think before they type too.
Dont take it too heart my dear. Believe in yourself and not the judgements of others!

i don't think that being confident in who you are makes you a bimbo. as long as you are also accepting of others and bash on their beliefs, then they have no right to make hateful remarks.
and disagreeing and bashing are two different things. i think people forget that sometimes.
