it doesn`t heat up food properly!

It may be less expensive to simply replace the thing. Consider a Sharp Carousel microwave. They are affordable and last forever. Most places carry them. I got mine on sale at Target for only $75. Sears carries them as well. There are different models so choose what best meets your needs based on how much you use the microwave and what you use it for. And remember - microwaves need to be disposed of properly. Call the department in charge of waste in your town and find out the right way to discard of your old oven. Microwaves are toxic to the environment. And whatever you do, don't try to fix it yourself or you will very likely get injured.

It sounds like the magnetron is getting week, it would be cheaper to buy a new oven than to have the tube replaced. Also if you try to replace it yourself and the bleed resistor is bad you could get a good shock even if the thing is unplugged.

You don't preheat microwave ovens. You only preheat conventional ovens, you know, the big ones the sit on the floor.
