The symbol _ is called the underscore. You can type it by the combination Shift and - key.

Don't know about a keypad but on the keyboard it's the second row of keys from the top 3rd button in, hold down shift key and press, should look like this_

I presume you mean underscore, ie. _. To type it, hold down a shift key and press the key to the right of the zero on the main keypad. It is usually used instead of a space, if a space is not a permissible character, for example, in e-mail addresses.
